AMBITIOUS Project: progress and collaboration at the Consortium Meeting in Kuopio

On the 7th and 8th of October, the AMBITIOUS Project consortium convened in Kuopio, Finland, for its second meeting of the year. The gathering brought together partners from across Europe to review progress, exchange insights, and align on the next stages of the project’s pilot activities. Such consortium meetings are crucial for fostering collaboration, sharing expertise, and ensuring the smooth development of complex, multi-partner initiatives like AMBITIOUS.

The discussions focused on five key areas of innovation with significant societal and technological impact:

  • Surveillance, or how to advance monitoring systems and tools to enhance safety and efficiency.
  • Water management, or how to develop sustainable approaches to purification, contamination control, and mitigation of flood risks.
  • Precision agriculture, or how to implement data-driven solutions to optimize productivity, improving sustainability  while reducing environmental impact.
  • Telemedicine, or how to improve access to healthcare through remote monitoring and digital health services.
  • Health-training apps, or how to support the development of apps for professional training and public health awareness.

Highlights of the mission: the visit to the Water Labs and to the Robotics lab at Savonia University

One of the key moments of the event was the visit to the Water Labs at Savonia University of Applied Sciences, where partners explored cutting-edge research in a number of areas: water treatment, contamination monitoring and flood control. This hands-on experience allowed participants to see first-hand the innovative solutions being tested and prepared for implementation in real-world scenarios.

The Consortium also attended a presentation of the Robotics lab of the university, where  the multiple applications of robotics were shown by demonstrations organised by the university students.

The Italian delegation

The Italian delegation played a prominent role in the discussions, with representation from Clust-ER Health – Emilia-Romagna, Clust-ER Innovate, Cluster Smart Cities & Communities – Lombardia, DataRiver, Italtel, and RE:LAB s.r.l. Their contributions reflect Italy’s growing leadership in European innovation ecosystems and highlight the country’s expertise in health, smart cities, and digital technologies.

Next steps

As the project enters a critical phase, pilots are now underway and new partners are set to join the initiative, reinforcing its momentum. The recent I3 Annual Forum with the European Commission further emphasized the importance of projects like AMBITIOUS, demonstrating strong European attention and support for collaborative research and innovation.

The consortium meeting also served as a valuable opportunity for partners to connect, exchange experiences, and strengthen collaboration. These interactions are key to ensuring alignment, addressing challenges proactively, and driving the project toward successful outcomes.

With its multi-disciplinary approach and strong international collaboration, the AMBITIOUS Project continues to push the boundaries of technological innovation, delivering solutions that address pressing societal challenges in health, agriculture, and environmental management.
