EUROPEAN PROJECTS

Final consortium meeting of the BIOMATDB project

The third and final in-person meeting of the BIOMATDB consortium took place on 18, 19 and 20 September 2024 in Vienna. With 5 months until the end of the European project, the multidisciplinary partners were brought together to review progress, address challenges, and plan final activities.

Clust-ER Health was represented by Project Manager Clémence Foltz.

Day 1: internal testing of the BIOMATDB solutions

A highlight of the final consortium meeting was the organisation of the “hands-on” internal testing of the BIOMATDB database and marketplace. Technical partner SYNYO GmbH welcomed a restricted number of partners, including Clust-ER Health, for an afternoon of front-end demonstration sessions, with one group dedicated to the testing of the database front-end and another group allocated to the testing of the marketplace front-end. For each of the digital solution, the workshop consisted in assessing in detail the different online modules available by completing a questionnaire; providing feedback on different mockups for the visual design; and reviewing the Help section. The technical partner also ran one-on-one testing sessions, which enabled them to observe how a user navigates the platforms and whether they easily find the information they were asked to retrieve or correclty carried out a task they were asked to perform.

All the knowledge, impressions and suggestions that were collected during these two sets of demonstrations will be incorporated into updated versions of the BIOMATDB database and marketplace. This will enable the two technical partners, SYNYO and the Barcelona Supercomputing Centre, to improve the current versions before they go live for the external testing.

Days 2 & 3: the consortium meeting

The following two days, the whole consortium gathered for an agenda packed with presentations of the progress made to date under the different work packages. The fondamental sessions were dedicated to the development of the back-end and of the front-end of the database and marketplace. Importantly, there was time assigned for engaging discussions that enabled the partners to address the ongoing challenges and to plan for the future activities. The collaborative spirit that animated the meeting also led to spontaneous, creative mini-workshops that helped moving forward some aspects of the BIOAMTDB digital solutions and determining the steps necessary to drive the initiative forward.

The final meeting in Vienna was a fruitful experience, fostering collaboration and driving progress towards achieving the BIOMATDB goals. The exchange of ideas, expertise and solutions among partners echoed the commitment of the consortium to deliver digital tools that serve the biomaterials community.

As the BIOMATDB project nears its completion, the external testing phase will soon commence, and we invite interested parties to get in touch for opportunities to participate and provide valuable feedback.
