Japan meets Emilia-Romagna: a new visit for the IURC project

Great chance to finally host in Emilia-Romagna the guest delegation from Japan, after our interesting tour last autumn. The meeting with the Japanese delegation relating to the IURC project took place on June 5th in the great hall of the Emilia-Romagna Region headquarters.

Dr. Baldoni from the Region and Dr. Bandini from ART-ER opened the meeting with a presentation of the Regional Innovation Ecosystem.

After a presentation of the startup area it was our turn: the Cluster Managers of the Clust-ERs of Mechatronics and Motors, Federico Capucci, and of the Health and Wellness Industries, Sauro Vicini, presented their respective activities and relationships already active with some Japanese stakeholders and their plans for the near future in view of the International Exposition in Osaka, which will take place in 2025.

The central part of the morning focused on the issues of energy and hydrogen, which had already been the subject of discussion in the mission that Emilia-Romagna had carried out in November 2022 in Japan.

The last part of the morning was an opportunity for the delegation to visit the Competence Center BI-REX, where the General Manager Stefano Cattorini illustrated the main activities and showed the center’s pilot line.

For the Clust-ER Health, this was also an opportunity to exchange old and new contacts with some key stakeholders, such as the prefecture of Osaka, Hiroshima and Aichi-Nagoya.

In the afternoon, the delegation continued with visits to CINECA, TOYOTA L.T.E. Lift Truck Equipment, FRIEL Green House.

The importance of Japan as a key country for internationalization has also clearly emerged from the survey carried out on companies and #research centers in our region; for this very reason we will continue to oversee the precious relations with the delegation, which we will meet again in the autumn on the occasion of trade fairs and institutional missions like Biotech EU Japan in Osaka and Bio Japan in Pacifico Yokohama.
