Open Call for SMEs: Join the AMBITIOUS project as a partner

AMBITIOUS is an I3 project co-funded under the I3-2021-INV1 call, which seeks to increase the competitiveness and the resilience of EU value chains on the basis of interregional cooperation and shared smart specialisation areas. The project’s mission is to address a number of important challenges for European small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) that are competitive on the world market, to improve the state-of-the-art in data analysis, artificial intelligence, 5G and Internet of Things (IoT) as well as to promote interregional collaboration and market access.

AMBITIOUS aims to provide a key technology infrastructure, which will provide advanced data aggregation and cleanup, analysis, artificial intelligence based forecasting and secure information exchange mechanisms, through a transparent IT continuum infrastructure, to be integrated with existing and mature services of the participating SMEs, freeing up for them still unforeseen functionalities and opening up new avenues of commercial exploitation. 

To achieve this goal, AMBITIOUS is implementing two technological pillars, which will interact with existing services to support the planned functionalities. Various sectors are targeted, including security, smart water management, agriculture, and digital health. These will be demonstrated through seven use cases across four countries: Finland, Greece, Italy and Sweden:

• Surveillance and monitoring of controlled areas
• Smart water management
• Precision agriculture
• Intelligent living-as-a-service
• Innovative digital technologies for real-time monitoring
• Telemedicine Platform for Continuous Remote Monitoring and Patient Support
• Pediatric Cardiac Arrest Support Management

Call for new partners to join the project

As part of its efforts to stimulate inter-region collaboration, technology transfer and development of novel digital solutions, AMBITIOUS aims to attract, select and integrate 10 new SMEs to formally join the consortium. This partner extension aims to reinforce AMBITIOUS’ activities by providing financial support for new SMEs to engage in innovative experimentation and explore the opportunities offered by the AMBITIOUS use cases and 5G test beds.

The Partner Extension Call is targeting innovative SMEs across selected countries in the EU. Eligible participants must be individual SMEs registered in the European Economic Area and be a participating country in the I3 Instrument (Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Croatia, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain and Sweden). In addition, eligible participants must be registered in the EU Funding & Tenders Portal and SMEs registered in a region not currently represented within the AMBITIOUS project are required to provide a letter of support from their regional authority.

Each selected SME will sign the Grant Agreement with the European Innovation Council and SMEs Executive Agency (EISMEA) and become a beneficiary, with an expected start date on 1 May 2025. Project costs are funded at 70%, and funding is available at EUR 85,000 per new partner (so EUR 59,500 reimbursed at the 70% funding rate).
