EUROPEAN PROJECTS

The AMBITIOUS project officially kicked-off

In the city of Athens, more than 40 representatives from eighteen partners were welcomed at the headquarters of the Hellenic Telecommunications Organisation (OTE) for the inaugural meeting of the AMBITIOUS project.

Started on 1st October 2023 and co-funded through the Interregional Innovation Investments (I3) Instrument of the European Union, the AMBITIOUS project aims to advance the state-of-the-art of artificial intelligence (AI), 5G, and the Internet of Things (IoT), with a strategic focus on fostering interregional collaboration and facilitating the commercialisation of cutting-edge technologies developed by small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Led by Luleå University of Technology, the AMBITIOUS consortium is a formidable alliance of diverse expertise that spans across seven regional ecosystems in five European Union countries: Norrbotten County in Sweden, North Savo in Finland, North Brabant in the Netherlands, Lombardia and Emilia-Romagna in Italy, and Attica and Achaea in Greece. The project aligns with several smart specialisation priorities of the regions involved and is expected to have impacts on various regional and EU sectors such as information and communications technology (ICT), environment, agriculture, and health.

The kick-off meeting in Athens provided the opportunity for all partners to meet in person and begin their collective endeavour. Over the course of the gathering, AMBITIOUS partners were able to share visions, align strategies, and set the stage for collaborative success. With comprehensive discussions on project timelines, potential challenges lying ahead and the organisation of the tasks and activities for the upcoming months, the meeting laid the foundation for an efficient journey together. The delegates left Greece with enthusiasm and commitment to contribute to the Digital Transition in Europe.
