Clust-ER Health obtains EUCLES Silver Label
An important step for the recognition of management excellence, which saw a positive outcome for Clust-ER Health in the evaluation by the European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA, www.cluster-analysis.org) team. After a careful analysis of the objectives and goals achieved to date since 2020, the year in which Clust-ER Health had obtained the Bronze Label, the remarkable progress made in all the areas examined was recognized.
“In addition to the mere recognition, the activity set up to obtain the Silver Label has provided us with the quality support tools in the management of the organization, which we have integrated with those already used by the Emilia-Romagna Region and ART-ER for monitoring the development of regional Clust-ER associations. This represents the true value of the work done and a stimulus for constant improvement”
Sauro Vicini, Manager Clust-ER Health
The team has in fact collected and organized all the useful material to witness the numerous activities carried out in the last two years, thus allowing an in-depth assessment of the impacts generated by them.
In the European life science sector there are currently six Clusters that are in possession of the valid silver label, three of which are in Germany (BioCon Valley GmbH, Medical Valley EMN, Forum MedTech Pharma and.V.) and the others in Belgium (BIOWIN) and Poland (Lifescience Krakow Klaster).
The value of continuous monitoring for Clust-ER Health
“This award validates the decisions taken, the activities carried out and the improvements made in recent years. Above all, it has been useful to embark on this journey as it provides us with insights into areas that can be further developed and processes that can be improved, in order to best support the regional health ecosystem and its actors.”
Clémence Foltz, Project Manager Clust-ER Health
In 2022 Clust-ER acquired two new figures, dedicated to project management and internationalization actions, both at European and international level. In addition to this, it has seen an important growth in activities, especially related to participation in European projects, as well as opportunities for dissemination and participation in events, at local and international level.
An intense work that requires, on the other hand, a continuous monitoring of the objectives achieved and the impacts generated, both as an Association as a whole and as a staff dedicated to management. For an association like Clust-ER, which has a rather small staff, but manages a large flow of activities and is in continuous contact with international realities, it is essential to establish a periodic internal work methodology and assessment aimed at effectively mapping all its work.It will be even more important in the perspective, in the future, for obtaining the Gold Label, which is awarded to very numerous organizations in terms of staff and with an organizational apparatus very close to the corporate one.
ESCA the commitment to management excellence
The European Secretariat for Cluster Analysis (ESCA, www.cluster-analysis.org) was initiated and mandated by the ECEI consortium to organise the evaluation process and to reward the successful cluster organisations with the “Cluster Management Excellence Label SILVER – Dedicated to Cluster Excellence” (SILVER Label) and the other labels in GOLD and BRONZE. A network of around 200 specially trained cluster experts from over 30 countries facilitate these activities.
In 2017-2019, new activities were supported by the European Commission, DG Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs, to redesign the evaluation and awarding processes and to raise the entire methodology to a higher level by launching a new European organization that takes over the governance of the labelling system.
Created in 2020, the European Cluster Labelling Excellence Structure (EUCLES) now works closely with ESCA to progressively gain responsibility for the labelling framework in Cluster Management Excellence. EUCLES promotes coordination approach at European level to further develop the cluster labelling scheme, bringing together members, representatives of regional and national cluster networks and offering a strong link with the European Commission.
